Picasso Museum Paris
The former the Hotel Sale, an elegant Marais mansion built by a salt magnate in the 17th century, houses a fabulous collection of Picasso's work, displayed in a setting full of natural light and stone. The state was given the collection after Picasso's death and consists of works donated by his family in lieu of inheritance taxes. This was the artist's private collection - together totalling more than 200 paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings and ceramics.

There are pieces from every stage of the artist's career, along with a fascinating display of tribal art, which is arranged alongside some of the sculptures and paintings it influenced. Because the collection is so vast, two temporary exhibits featuring items like his studies of the Minotaur are held annually. In addition to the personal collection of Picasso, the museum also has a number of works by Cezanne, Rousseau, Braque, Derain, Renoir, Balthus, and Matisse. In the summer months, an outdoor cafe is open in the secluded garden behind the mansion.
