Paris Restaurants
Paris, like all of France, is legendary for its rich cuisine and culinary excellence. French wine and cheese are known the world over, so you are in for some delightful dining experiences. Start your day at a patisserie, a French bakery, where the scents and tastes will dazzle you. Crepes can be bought throughout the day at stands around the city. These thin "pancakes" are prepared right before your eyes and filled your choice of fruits, cheeses, jams, ham and nearly anything else you can think of. A bistro, in historic terms at least, is a rather formal meeting place for the well to do, while cafes are designed to be more casual - a good place for friends to chat offer coffee while enjoying a table game or a snack. A brasserie is a brewery with a light selection of contemporary meals. Restaurants are generally more formal with varying menus. Now that you have the vocabulary down, here are a few places you might want to consider during your visit.

Guy Savoy, not only some of the most outstanding food in the city, but a joyful ambience that keeps luring the locals back over and over again. Reservations are a must at Au Camelot. Noisy, with friendly service, they offer excellent home-style cooking. Taillevent is expensive, but it has consistently been one of the top restaurants in Paris for over 60 years. Not everything in Paris is pricey, or formal. For a place that is both family-friendly and easier on the wallet, especially early in the day, try a cafe. At a cafe, children seem to like the sandwiches (try a croque monsieur), the omelets, and the pommes frites (french fries). La Samaritaine is one of the best, particularly for children. Come late in the afternoon (tea time) and take the children to the fifth floor restaurant for a great view and some delicious ice cream. The restaurant offers excellent service and fine food for dinner as well.
