Paris Nightlife
Nightlife in Paris offers dozens of opportunities: the opera, a jazz club, a cabaret, the Eiffel Tower, a walk along the river, a formal dinner, or an evening of quiet romance the begins in a bistro. Chances are good that at some point during you visit to the city you will be looking for a place to dance and enjoy the company of someone else. You will have no problem finding a place that sets exactly the mood you are looking for. There are a lot of options here. Cabarets and Gay Bars are listed elsewhere. Here are just a few of the other choices available.

Let's start with tradition. The historic Cafe de Flore captures the ambience of Paris of old all the way down to its cramped quarters. Harry's New York Bar was a favorite hangout of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway in the 1920s. If that interests you, you should check out the Hemingway Bar in the Ritz-Carlton, in the style of Ernest Hemingway, with bartenders who are students of the man and his many legends. Le Balajo has been open for over 60 years. Thursday night is Latin night.

Le Cabaret began life as just that. It still has the old decor but the clientele has changed. Stars from the world of entertainment and high society have been spotted here. Another place to rub shoulders with celebrity is Les Bains - if you can make it in the door. This is one of the hottest clubs in the city. Aptly named, Le VIP Room is often closed for private parties, but when it is open it attracts VIPs from around the world.

If you would rather dance than watch people, try the trendy Lizard Lounge, with its three dance floors. Other trendy, high-energy, dance spots include Le Depanneur, Cafe du Tresor and Le Rex. Try La Palette or La Coupole for good music and great ambience.

If you would prefer something a bit more subdued, drop into Willi's Wine Bar, an elegant diversion in the city's financial district offering 250 wines. The China Club is not quite as sophisticated as Willi's, but you will find a relaxed atmosphere here as well.
