Paris Jazz Clubs
Few cities outside the United States offer the quality of Jazz that you will find in Paris. As a result, a number of the clubs, like the St-Louis Blues where Josephine Baker first performed in Paris, have an American theme. Le Petit Journal, with two locations, specializes in Dixieland jazz. Le Sunset and its sister club Le Sunside feature some of the biggest names in Jazz. Sunset leans toward fusion and contemporary styles, while Sunside is traditional. Le Bilboquet is the place to find primarily French musicians playing mainstream jazz in a faded Belle Epoque salon. Le Caveau de la Huchette, has a long history. World War II soldiers loved the up-tempo boogie. Today, college kids dance to smooth jazz performed by well-known combos. Another great club for dancing to jazz is the Slow Club, one of the most popular Jazz clubs in Europe. Aux Trois Mailletz is a traditional Latin Quarter Club, while Au Duc des Lombards has modern, contemporary jazz punctuated with funky decor.
